[Example of Standard Time Measurement] Indoor Positioning System
Introducing a case study that measured standard time using process analysis and time study in Industrial Engineering (IE).
We would like to introduce a case study utilizing the immediately deployable position and motion analysis tool "InQross Kaizen Maker" at a lighting fixture manufacturing factory. In this factory, there were many production models, and there were no standard times (ST) for each process. To easily measure standard times, we considered measuring the dwell time of carts. By attaching human tags to the carts and measuring their dwell time, we were able to measure the process time of the work and establish standard times for each process. 【Case Overview】 ■ Analysis - Calculated the average cycle time for each process from the dwell time of the carts. - Discovered that there was variability depending on the process. - Found that carts were spending a significant amount of time in the finished goods storage area. ■ Improvement - Estimated work using standard times (ST). - Sought to shorten the problematic processes. - Explored methods to eliminate the dwell time of carts in the finished goods storage area. ■ Results - Standard times for each process became clear, allowing for quicker and more accurate estimates. - The problematic processes became visible, enabling us to begin improvements. *For more details, please download the catalog.
